Thankful Thursday

Looking back over the past week, here are some things I'm Thankful for:

1. I am thankful, flattered and honored that Katrina at Wiredset, asked me to write a review of Happens Every Day. How the heck did she ever find little 'ol me, anyway? However she did it, I'm glad and it was fun to write a review of a book knowing that someone else wanted me to do it.

2. I am grateful that by some stroke of luck and special planetary alignment, I managed to have the house all to myself not just Friday, but Saturday night as well! Never in the history of my Mom-dom has THAT happened. I contemplated going to the movies, but there really wasn't anything I wanted to see. So, I watched an episode of LOST that I hadn't yet seen and I read to my little heart's content. That is how I managed to finish 3 books and get 2 reviews written this week. (Stay tuned for review #3).

3. Yesterday as I was driving home from my hair appointment (hair dye - something else to be grateful for!) - I saw my favorite view in all the world. And it only happens for a few short weeks every year. There is a gorgeous white clapboard church in my town that everyone refers to as The White Church. It sits right next to a small bridge over a narrow portion of a cove that separates my neighborhood from the rest of our town. Anyway, for about 2 weeks in May the cherry tree that sits next to the church blooms with the most gorgeous pink flowers. There is one spot on the busy road leading into to my town in which the trees open up and you can see the church across the water framed by those trees. You can only see it for a split second or two. I love that view all year round. But when the cherry tree is in bloom, it is breathtaking. And I saw it yesterday for the first time this season. I so wish I could take a picture of it but the road is very busy and there is no place to pull over in that spot. But, here is a picture of the church (taken in May with the cherry tree in bloom) from a field that borders the cove, to give you some idea. Isn't it lovely?

Nothing like a dose of Mother Nature to make you thank your lucky stars. How about you? What are you thankful for this week?

Happy Thankful Thursday! i too have seen some gorgeous nature the last few days. Yesterday I woke up to the sound of loons calling..I LUV that sound! Today I am thankful that I too will have the house somewhat to myself this weekend. It's Fishing Opener and the boys are off for the weekend to chase fishies. Just me and the Sara-Boo.
I am also thankful that, I am the chair of a major Ladies Night event for our Downtown area. It's tonight, we're ready, and there's NO RAIN in the forecast!! Yiippeee!

That view is indeed lovely!

I have been feeling very thankful this week - I think spring reminds us of that - it's like a big ole do-over.

I really enjoy your Thankful Thursdays. I believe the beauty of Spring give me new hope and makes me smile. I do not have a green thumb, so anything that grows in my yard is a blessing. I looked out the other day to see my Gardenia Bush in full bloom.......so pretty. I snipped a few and brought them in, I took some pictures, I need to share.
I'm always thankful for time alone in my own house, it's nice it can be like a mini retreat.

That view is so pretty - I've always wanted to see cherry blossoms in person! I'm jealous of your time alone in your house - I feel like I never get any of that these days. I'm hoping I'll get some me time this weekend for Mother's Day, we'll see!

I agree with Anita. Love your thankful Thursdays. It always makes me think and find at least one thing I can be thankful for, even if I've had a ratty week.

Woo, hurry up T. V. Quips. I actually watched AI last night and got to see Chris Daughtry. He's so very!

Mommy - Enjoy your alone time this weekend and your Ladies Night event. Yay, for good weather!

Tammy - I agree the change of seasons always makes me feel like I can have a fresh start.

Anita - I've got a brown thumb, for sure. Gardening always seems so romantic, until I get out there and start trying to do it. Then it's just "yardwork". Can't wait to see your gardenias!

Elizabeth - Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I appreciate it! I hope you have a little quiet time this weekend.

Alex - TV Quick Quips will be up on Saturday! Can't wait to talk about idol. I have to agree I just love Daughtry, though I didn't love that song he sang last night. Maybe I just need to hear it a few more times.

Colleen - Aw shucks! You are so sweet! I'll see you on Saturday for the RARI May breakfast. Can't wait!

And thanks to everyone who said they like my Thankful Thursdays. Sometimes I think this is the hardest post I write each week. But, it's probably the most important. I need to remind myself to be Positive Pam instead of Pessimist Pam.

What I wouldn't give for a few hours alone -completely alone in my house.

Terra - I know just what you mean. Having time alone in your own house is such a joy! Any chance you can get your hubby and kids to go out on Mother's Day and leave you behind? It's worth a try.

I think it's really important to count our blessing every so often. Great post.

K - Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I appreciate it. Counting my blessings is just what Thankful Thursday is all about. It's a way for me to be sure to make the time to do that every week. Otherwise, I'm too inclined to focus on all the negative "stuff" that happens.

Alone time... what I would give for any amount of time. Since my hubby retired I so miss having my house to myself. That sounds so selfish doesn't it. He is a wonderful man... but I need my quiet time. Lol
Wonderful Thankfuls!

Sharon - I don't think it sounds selfish at all. I worry about this exact thing. It's a ways off for me, but I remember when a friend's FIL retired years ago her MIL mentioned how he would be asking her what's for lunch at 10:30 am. I've never forgotten that and I've been worrying about it all these years. LOL! Does your husband like to golf? Maybe clubs and lessons would be a good Father's Day gift?
