Once again, trying to look at the full half of the glass. Here's my list of things to be thankful for this week:
1. I'm am so grateful that Katie had a fun time at her prom last Friday night. I was a little worried about it because she didn't have a date and was going with a group of people - 5 couples and 2 other "single" girls. Turns out she had way more fun than most girls who were coupled up. Apparently, most of the girls who were there with simple dates (as opposed to actual boyfriends) spent most of the evening trying their best to avoid these poor young men. How sad is that? Why, I ask, did they say yes to these boys, if they didn't want to spend time with them? I think the answer is that they REALLY wanted to go to the prom. I'm so proud of Katie that she didn't let a little thing like the lack of a date stop her from going. And apparently, a date was the last thing she needed in order to have a good time. You go girl! Gotta love her spunk and courageous spirit!
2. Trying really hard to find the silver lining on this one. I'm thankful that I had to go to the dentist last week to repair three teeth that I have apparently chipped or worn away from incessant grinding. What? I don't grind my teeth! Well, upon carefully paying attention to myself and my habits (for the entire month that transpired between dental checkup and tooth repair) it came to my attention that I DO in fact grind my teeth. All the time. As in continuously. Like a nervous tic or hair twirling. YIKES! So, what am I grateful for, exactly. Well, the bonding material that is now covering said destroyed teeth feels like nails on a chalkboard (inside my head!) every time I try to grind them. No more grinding! Imagine that!
3. I am so thankful, surprised and humbled by the people who have decided to follow me here on Pam's Perspective. I really am. And even more exciting to me is the little community we seem to have built up here and on a few other blogs. Some of us are even now Facebook friends and Twitterati (is that a word? If not it should be!). A year of so ago, I joined a message board for the TV show The Office and I really loved the community of people there. Unfortunately, things got a little dramatic and after a year I decided to walk away. I was very sad about it and for a while it was really hard not to check in. I really missed some of the people in that community - and I still do . When I started my blog, I had no idea that a community could be built up around it as well. And it makes me so happy. So, thank you for that! Anyone else want to join my group of Facebook friends or Twitterati? Just send me an email and I'll tell you how to find me. (You can find my email address by clicking the Contact tab at the top of my blog).
4. I have Anita from A Wife, a Woman, a Mom to thank for this entry. She pointed out to me that I am lucky to be close enough to a city to see some decent theater. I hadn't even given that a moments thought before she mentioned it. I am lucky! I love going to musicals and plays and I am lucky to have several very good local theaters right in my backyard. Not to mention the fact that I'm lucky to be able to purchase tickets and attend these productions. So, thank YOU Anita for helping me to see my good fortune. It really is awfully easy to take things for grated.
5. Last but not least, I'm thankful for the three blog awards I was given this week. Wow! What a week.
So, how about you? What's in the full half of your glass this week?

When you really sit down and think about it we all have a lot to be thankful for, sometimes we just have to drag it out of ourselves. I am a teeth Clencher...I clench while I sleep...thus breaking down my precious teeth as well, my dentist wants me to get a bite guard, I haven't.
PROM...Prom, Honestly I don't miss those days but your daughter - very mature!
I do miss going to plays and musicals. Since we moved to this little town in WY... but I do love where I live and the wildlife that wonders around our house. It is only about 2 hours to Billings, MT and they have some entertainment every once in a while. So I am thankful to have both worlds to live in!
Thanks again Pam for my awards.
Seriously, a community, an idea I can buy into. There are sometimes I find myself wondering why so and so that I follow and follows me isn't following you because I enjoy the back and forth commenting so much. It's an odd world to be in, one that accomodates, so to speak, each aspect of your personality, which is why I might follow you, but they might not, and I follow them, and you might not. Am I making any sense, or just wasting space. Maybe a bit of both.
Congrats to your awards, you deserved each and every one of them!
so glad your daughter had a great time @ prom!
I wish I would have gone to one of those back in my hs days :(
have a great weekend!!!
I had to go to the dentist this week too. Just for a cleaning, but I guess I'm thankful that I had no other work to be done.
Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day. I have been reading yours lately, and now know why you got those awards this week. Well done!
Thanks for stopping by!
Good idea: Thankful Thursday. It is so easy to be down on life, but we really do have so much to be thankful for!
Ok, I'm dating myself here, but hooray for these times when girl(or a boy) can go to the prom without a "date". I never went to a homecoming or prom in my late 70's teenhood(is that a word?). I also admire your daughter for her spunk, which is a very underused word.
ouch on the grinding, I hope the new stuff stops it for you.
I'm constantly amazed at the followers I have too, and so pleased with the friendships that are developing.
Your discussion of theater has made me realize how much I miss it, and I'm going to work at discovering more of it right in my back yard.
I'm a glass half full person..........all the way, and my list of thankful things is long. I am thankful today for sunshine and for the little skit I get to see my son perform in at his schools' Evening of the Arts.
Have a wonderful day!
Terra - Get the bite guard before you need dental work! And, yes, Katie is mature - sometimes!
Sharon - Best of both worlds! And you're welcome!
Alex - I've been thinking about the same thing lately. I usually do a little blog hopping every day - mostly from the SITS site. But this morning I was thinking that maybe I should blog hop the followers of blogs I follow. Does this make sense? Because I'm sure that (for instance) blogs that follow you would also be interesting to me. I'm going to give it a try and let you know how it works out. Because I think you're right. It would seem that similar blogs would attract at least some of the same followers.
Emily - It is nice that nowadays kids can go to the prom even they don't have a date.
Lady Grey - Thanks for the congrats and for saying that you like my blog. I like yours, too!
Acting Mom - Thanks for visiting. And you're right about having much to be thankful for. Sometimes I just need to remind myself!
Anita- good luck with finding some local theater. And enjoy the skit tonight! School skits definitely count as theater! They're the best kind!
Congratulations to your daughter for having a great time with her friends at Prom. I about dropped my phone when my goddaughter told me that she was going to Homecoming without a date (even though she'd been asked by five different guys) because she didn't like any of them as more than friends, and thought she'd have more fun on her own! I don't care what people say about "kids today" I think a lot of them are smarter and more well-adjusted than we give them credit for!
Pam...Yeah to Katie! I am so happy that she went to the prom and that she in fact had a good time. You should be very proud of her.
So sorry about the grinding and the result to your teeth. Now that you are aware and consious of this you will stop.
I LOVE Thankful Thursday...we do all have so much to be thankful for and we forgot that so often...let me leave you with a few lines from a poem that I love about "Enough".
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.........
Have a good rest of the day....Colleen
I am thankful this morning for the new day as it dawns and that it is Friday :)
Hi Pam! I am thankful to have made it through another stressful week. Life is amazingly complex lately, but at the end of it all as long as I have hubby and my babies, the rest is irrelevant. Plus I'm thankful for the great chicken recipe I found. Stop by my blog and peek!
Frantic - So true. Sometimes we take the presence of the people in our lives for granted. I'll be by to check out that recipe!
I join you most wholeheartedly in your thankfulness over this little community.
Tammy - It really is kind of cool, isn't it!
