TV Quick Quips

TV Quick Quips are extra quick this week. Big Love and Flight of the Conchords are finished for the season and The Office wasn't even on this week (tragic!). But, don't despair. Season 3 of The Tudors starts on Sunday! Can't wait.

American Idol - Megan does have an interesting voice, but her "quirkiness" was really becoming annoying. I'm not sorry to see her go.

LOST- What? I've never been more confused by this show. I can not figure out this whole time travel thing. It's kind of scaring me that Hurley makes the most sense to me right now. And Jack... Did he forget about the Hippocratic Oath?

The Office - Not on this week? I am having serious withdrawal symptoms!

Friday Night Lights - I was happily surprised that the Panthers didn't win the State Championship. I thought that was much more realistic. That is one of the things I love about this show. It isn't always "happily ever after". And I just have to say "Ewww" to Billy peeing in the sink. Ewww!

We've only just begun (sound like Karen Carpenter yet?) to subscribe to Showtime, and since The Tudors is a bit...er...racy...I'm slow on catching up on the past seasons. Hopefully, I'll be there once the new season starts. Can we say yum? Yes, I"m saying yum.

Hi Alex - I just got Showtime as well. And I got it so that I could watch The Tudors. I've aways been fascinated by Henry VIII and the Tudor period and I watched the other two seasons on videotapes that my friend made for me. I finally decided to just subscribe to Showtime. (I did the same thing with HBO and Flight of the Conchords and Big Love).

Hi Pam, I'm Mary ... popping over from SITS. I try to make a practice of visiting the blog of the person who posts ahead of me on roll call and today that was you.

You have a very interesting blog here - love it! I dropped Showtime years ago because things got a bit too, um, racy on there for me. On Idol I was thrilled to see Megan go - she was far too quirky for me, I hated the tatoos (don't know why really) but she also had an 'attitude' that I didn't care for. There's confidence and then there's well, arrogance. Big Love has been one of my favorite series, though at first I wasn't sure I would even like it. It sure grew on me. I got a new TiVo box recently so it's recording the reruns right now since it thinks I haven't seen then yet, so I may just watch the whole thing again! I'm with you on Lost though - Hubs and I have been "lost" on that show from it's beginning. Dunno... guess it's just too deep for us! I LOVE Friday Night Lights but now that they have returned to network tv they are showing what the rest of us saw on Channel 101 on DirecTv last year, so it's all reruns to us.

I love what you were saying in the previous post about books. I'm the same way. I have the most difficult time with weeding through books and getting rid of them - no matter where their destination. I take that back. I did give some parenting books to my brother who was dealing with those "I Hate You Will You Take Me to the Mall" teenage years! I never thought about them holding meaning to my own life! Very interesting perspective!!

Hope you're feeling better - Hubs and I are both all stopped up and miserable from (I think) a combination of allergies from tree pollen and maybe a bit of the common cold. I hate that uggy feeling...

Well, have a great day - interesting blog! I'm gonna follow you!!

Oh man, we just don't subscribe to premium channels. I feel so out of the loop! We keep saying we'll rent the DVD's of the shows everyone is talking about, but then we rarely do.

Off to sulk.

Hi Mary! I'm so glad I posted ahead of you on SITS today! Thank you for commenting and following. I love that we watch a lot of the same TV shows and share the same opinions. Make sure you ask your brother for those parenting books back when he's done with them. You NEED them. They tell an important part of your story! Glad we found each other!

Hi Tammy! I hear you. We did the same thing for a couple years and then I caved and got HBO and Showtime. But, don't despair. Summer is a great time to catch up on all the shows on DVD. My husband and I did that all last summer. Have you seen Six Feet Under? GREAT show. We watched all 5 seasons on DVD. It was so fun!

Angie - I hate to admit that I feel the same way. But, I just can't stop for fear it will start to be more like Season 2 and I will miss it!
