TV Quick Quips

The Tudors -
Can I just say, I am sooo glad I didn't live in England in the mid-1500's. What a brutal time it was. I can still not get the image of the women struggling with the guards as their husbands were being hanged for treason. It's haunting me.

American Idol - Even though I agree it was time for her to go, I was sad about Lil being sent home. She started out as one of my favorites, but she really seemed to go downhill after a great start. And it was definitely time for Anoop to leave. I never really liked him all that much as singer. From now on it's going to be much harder to see the contestants go. Right now I'm betting on Adam, Kris and Danny as the top three. Adam is still my favorite, but Kris is starting to impress me.

LOST - I LOVE these recap shows that LOST airs every now and then. They feel like review sessions for the big final in my most difficult college course. Every time I see one I realize how much I've forgotten over the course of the season. And how much I never really "got" the first time around. Can't think of any other show that I'm actually not disappointed when there isn't a new episode every week. But I do have to wonder about a show that is so confusing that I need a refresher course part way through the season. I'm beginning to think I'm a glutton for punishment.

The Office - Yay! It was so nice to hear Pam talk about planning her wedding to Jim. When is that going to happen anyway? Double Yay, for Jim FINALLY not looking like a bumbling fool in front of Charles. That whole story line was really bumming me out. Loved the scene when the Korean woman got in the van and everyone just stared blankly ahead. Classic The Office!

I love The Tudors series. I am currently taking a Renaissance Lit seminar that is centered around the life and court of Henry VIII. In addition to our weekly readings and writings, we watch one episode of The Tudors in class every week. (It is a 3 hour class). Watching the show provides an interesting angle to class discussion of the literature.

Whitney - I am SO jealous. I wish there had been a course like this when I was in college. I love everything to do with Renaissance England and Henry VIII specifically. Lucky you.

I love me so Adam. But I love me some Danny, too. I'm so torn. Kris is okay to me, but I would love to see Adam or Danny win it.
The Tudors, man, that was a vicious show. We thought that our classmates could be vindictive, but those people didn't have anything to take their minds off their plots. Geesh. I'm with you. And glad I didn't live back then.

Hey Pam! Thanks for stopping by...mamakat is the best, isn't she - I love that girl! Your blog is adorable! AND you are even talking about The Office, my favorite show! To answer you question, I design invitations/parties/events big and small for the young and old...I just got my blog up and rolling, hopefully I'll have examples of other work soon. Again, thanks for being so welcoming here in blog-land! :)

Pam, the Office is back!! I have replayed the last 10 mins laptop several times so I can see how brilliantly Michael did his negotiating. The ending was the best. I LOVE how Jim helped by making Dwight look stupid at the end. I am so happy it is back on track

Idol, I predict Adam,Kris and Danny too. Adam is my #1 and Kris is starting to impress me too. Hubby does not like anyone but Adam. I am so happy that my man likes Idol. :)

You should read some of the books written by Alison Weir. One book that we read for class was Henry VIII: The King and His Court

Shelley - I feel your pain about being torn between Danny and Adam. Adam was my very favorite right from the first show, so he's my "default" favorite. LOL!

LePoppy - I LOVE The Office! I was so obsessed for awhile it was kind of scary. I was even a member of a message board that I logged on to compulsively. Kind of like what I do with my blog now. A girl something to obsess about, right? Glad to hear that you will have designs for all events. Can't wait to see. If the rest are wondering what we are talking about, click on LePoppy's name here on my comment page to check out her adorable invitations, etc. You won't be sorry!

Clare - Yay! I wholeheartedly agree. The Office was back. Michael's negotiations reminded of the scene from the episode when he had to give a deposition against Jan. Michael always comes through when he needs to. And, I do love me some Jim (to quote Shelley, above). I haven't had a crush on a Tv character since Posty on Happy Days!

Whitney - I have read several of Alison Weir's books. I love them. The ones I haven't read are on my "to read" list. I love her! I don't think I've read Henry VIII:The King and His Court. I so wish I could take the class you're taking. I know I would LOVE it!

Not only were the times in the 1500's brutal, but the smell was just as bad. It was nothing for someone to stand up from the dinner table to relieve themselves...er...in the same room. Naaaasty. Ever hear of June brides? The reason they had June brides was because it was the warmest time of the year, and everyone was still smelling fresh enough from their yearly bath! Romantic as the 1500's are made to believe, I like my running water and air conditioning.

Alex - Yuck! I'll take indoor plumbing and personal hygiene as well. Though watching The Tudors does make me swoon just a little. There are lots of handsome actors on that show. Of course, if it really was the 1500s they would all have rotting teeth, filty hair and body odor. A girl can dream though, right?

I love The Tudors. I've always been interested in Henry VIII.

I also love Lost even though I have no idea what's going on 90% of the time. But it still facinates me.

And I love The Office. It never fails to make me laugh and Jim is nice to look at.

Hey Writer - Thanks for visiting my blog. I feel like you must be my long lost twin. I could have written EXACTLY this same comment. I hope you'll come again.

Valentine - I agree. There was so much to love in The Office this week. Reminded me of old-school The Office. I'm glad that some of LOST's questions are finally getting answered as well. But, I'm still so confused about that show.

I LOVE LOST!!! I get so excited each Wednesday night for it to come on. I am excited to see how it will wrap p in 2010~

Crystal - I completely agree. I had read last year that the writers have an actual plan in mind for the show and they know where it's going. That really keeps me watching, because otherwise I'd be afraid we'd never figure it all out.

Pam, I just can't get over how we watch all the same shows! The Tudors is really my DC's show; I watch to keep him company, but yikes! It is just sickening how the horrible things people dream up to do to each other. Terrorists have nothing on 16th c. England.

Color me so confused on Lost. Daniel got shot... by his own mother??? I only started watching last spring, so I'm usually a bit confused.

On Idol, I was sorry to see Lil go too. I thought she was so good at the beginning, but it just seemed like she always picked the wrong songs. Not at all sad to see Matt go this week. I admit I have a soft spot for Anoop Desai, as he's from my area and also sang in the same choir my son was in for years (both are alums of the Raleigh Boy Choir, whose other famous alum would be Clay Aiken.) I was sad to see Anoop go, but agree he's probably not really star material, although he's a great singer. I know lots of people disagree with me, but I really can't stand Adam Lambert and pray for the day he leaves the show. Love Danny Gokey, but predict the winner will end up being The Wailer (as we call Mr. Lambert) or Chris, as he's more conventionally "cute" than Danny.

Hi Karen! Haven't seen you around here lately. Glad you decided to stop by.

I LOVE The Tudors. Such a great show.

You might want to rent the previous seasons of LOST to try to catch up, but just a heads up, you might still be just as confused. I am.

Wow, there have been quite a few Idols from your area. How cool that your son sang with Anoop. My daughter won't watch anymore since Anoop is gone. I actually like Adam, but Kris is growing on my every week. I like Danny, too. If any of them win, I'll be happy.
